What is a PDF to JPG Converter?
A PDF to JPG converter turns a PDF into ordinary picture files. There are two things people mean by that, and PDFChai does both. Pages to JPG turns each page of the document into a separate JPG (also called JPEG) image, exactly as the page looks, text and all. What is the difference between Pages to JPG and Extract images?
Pages to JPG takes a picture of each page, with its text, lines and images, at the size you choose. Extract images ignores the page layout and pulls out the pictures that are stored inside the file, at their original pixel size. Use the first to share a page and the second to get the photos back.
Can I extract the images inside a PDF?
Yes. Choose Extract images, add the PDF and every picture the pages use is listed with its size and the page it is on. Embedded JPEGs are copied out exactly as they were stored. Other images, including JPEG 2000, scans and images with a transparent background, are decoded and saved as JPG or PNG.
Why did Extract images find no pictures in my PDF?
Because there are none stored in it. Pages made of lines, shapes and text, for example charts drawn as vector graphics, contain no image files, and a PDF printed from some apps draws everything that way. Switch to Pages to JPG to get a picture of the page instead.
Why are extracted images a different size from how they look in the PDF?
A PDF can show a 3000-pixel photo at 5 cm wide, or stretch a small image across the page. Extract images gives you the picture as it is stored, which is usually larger and sharper than it appears on the page. Very large images, over about 24 megapixels, are reduced to keep the browser responsive.
Do extracted JPGs lose quality?
No. When the PDF stores a plain JPEG, that exact file is handed back without re-compressing it. Images stored in other formats are decoded and then saved at the JPG quality you choose, or losslessly as PNG.
What image quality will I get for pages?
Pages are drawn at 108, 144 or 216 dpi and then saved as JPG at your chosen quality (High 95%, Good 92% or Medium 80%). The result is sharp and suitable for screen use, sharing and printing.
Can I convert only one page of a PDF?
